periodic inspection and test shall be in accordance with 6.2.1.6.
note 1: with the agreement of the competent authority of the country that issued the type
approval, the hydraulic pressure test of each welded steel cylinder intended for the carriage of gases
of un no. 1965, hydrocarbon gas mixture liquefied, n.o.s., with a capacity below 6.5 l may be
replaced by another test ensuring an equivalent level of safety.
note2: for seamless steel cylinders and tubes the check of 6.2.1.6.1 (b) and the hydraulic
pressure test of 6.2.1.6.1 (d) may be replaced by a procedure conforming to en iso 16148:2016 "gas
cylinders – refillable seamless steel gas cylinders and tubes – acoustic emission examination (at)
and follow-up ultrasonic examination (ut) for periodic inspection and testing".
note3: the check of 6.2.1.6.1 (b) and the hydraulic pressure test of 6.2.1.6.1 (d) may be replaced
by ultrasonic examination carried out in accordance with en 1802:2002 for seamless aluminium
alloy gas cylinders and in accordance with en 1968:2002 + a1:2005 for seamless steel gas cylinders.
